New Bike Assembly

Once you've received your bike there may be a small amount of setting up necessary before you ride it.

Re-adjusting the handlebar stem

Ahead system:

If you have an Ahead headset, firstly loosen the two bolts on the side of the stem, not to be confussed with the bolt on the top of the stem. Use the encolsed allen key to do this. Then turn the handlebars back to the correct position and re-tighten the two bolts. If there is any movement, the bolts require further tightening.

Quill System:

If you have a quill stem, firstly loosen the bolt on top of the stem using the enclosed allen key. Then turn the handlebars back to the correct position and re-tighten the bolt. If there is any movement, the bolt require further tightening.

Fitting pedals:

On some models you may have to put the pedals on, the pedals have different threads so you need to make sure that the right pedal goes into the right crank (chainring side), and the left into the left crank, these have clockwise and anti-clockwise threads. When the pedals go on they shouldn't be tight to wind in, if you find they are tight to get in you may have the wrong pedal. Once the pedals have been put on the bike make sure that these are really tight.
